Newark, NJ-May10, 2014- The Jersey Express SC played its finest game of the season thus far in a 5-0 romp of the North Virginia Royals at NJIT Stadium on Saturday Night. The Express (1-0-1) received a goal from Forward Akeem Johnson (Montclair, NJ) with an assist from Forward Christopher Karcz (Clifton, NJ) in the opening minutes of the game.

A foul by the Royals (0-1-0) just out the goal box gave Conor Fitzpatrick (Coventry, Conn.) a free kick from

approximately 25 yards out in the center of the pitch which led to a goal by Karcz to put the Express on top, 2-0, at halftime.

Northern Virginia had a glorious opportunity to score one in the opening minutes of the second half after #23 f

ound some space down the center of the field. He fired a shot just outside the box, but the Express’ goalie sprawled to his left to make the diving stop and preserve the shutout.

In the second half, Forward Joseph Ovenseri (Nigeria) chipped in on the scoring action. In the 70th minute, Midfielder Walter Hines (Brooklyn, N.Y) launched a kick to Ferraro (Italy) who scored and extend the margin to 4-0..

Ansger Otto (Ghana) would later put the finishing touches on the triumph off a beautiful strike in the 87th minute. It was just him and the goalkeeper on the right side of the field and Otto bent it past the netminder.

The win is the most lopsided victory or the Express this season so far. Coach Matteo on tonight’s game “It is pleasing to get a win and a much better performance in the second half.” Matteo’s thoughts on the next game “Hopefully things will come together after we have played a couple of games.”

Jersey Express SC returns to pitch on Wednesday, May 14, at NJIT Stadium for an 8:00 p.m. tilt.
